Let's face it, when contemplating investing in a new hybrid vehicle, the first thing buyers want to know about is how much it can save them at the pump. And rightfully so. Kia understands this need, but also knows buying a new car doesn't hinge on solely how far a gallon of gas can take you down the road.

Which is why the newly redesigned 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid boasts some of the best fuel economy out of a hybrid and gas/electric car, but also has style, updated new looks, and flash that are a definite draw for just about anyone looking to get a new hybrid car.

What's New in 2017

So what exactly does the 2017 Optima Hybrid have to offer in terms of performance that make it a must-see?

Mechanically, the new Hybrid sedan gets a 154-horsepower, 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder engine, plus a 38-kW electric motor system clutched into what's for the most part a traditional six-speed automatic transmission. This more conventional automatic paired with an electric motor and a clutch replacing the torque converter. Is semi-unusual, but it pays off in terms of managing to avoid the droning sensation present in many other hybrids when it comes time for harder acceleration.

The 2017 Optima hybrid also gets the PHEV option that gets a more powerful 50-kW electric motor, as well as some mechanical upgrades and a much-higher-capacity 9.8-kWh battery pack, which can be charged at 240V in less than three hours of less than nine hours on a standard household 120V AC plug.

For the 2017 Optima Hybrid, Kia has suggesting a ten-percent improvement in fuel economy over the 206 model, which is rated 36 mpg city, 40 highway (38 mpg combined). With a combined figure of around 42 mpg.

So we have the efficiency, what about the looks? Kia did a tremendous job with the 2017 Optima Hybrid by giving it an upscale and detailed interior, with real stitching for the dash and door panels, and a cleaner look to the dash. Both the 2017 Optima Hybrid and Optima Plug-In follow the traditional Optima sedan lineup, with a few differences. LED lights are standard, as is special badging, and they also sport an active grille, a unique front aero treatment, a beveled rear bumper, and a rear diffuser that shrouds the exhaust tip, as well as more aerodynamic wheels.

Not only does the 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid give you much more for your dollar in terms of performance, but also as a competitively priced, luxury-styled sedan. Find out what makes the 2017 Optima Hybrid a must-drive at Dorschel today.
